Sustainable development

"Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It also means meeting the basic needs of all, and enabling everyone to aspire to a better life" (Brundtland Report, 1987).

In order to meet these economic, environmental and societal challenges, Centrale Lyon ENISE's Sustainable Development mission aims to:

  • Raise awareness of sustainable development issues among students and staff alike
  • Accompany management and departments in implementing sustainable development actions
  • Deploy the school's sustainable development and social responsibility strategy to all stakeholders
  • Coordinate environmental management policy

The sustainable development and social responsibility strategy

The Centrale Lyon ENISE sustainable development and social responsibility strategy (DDRS) is composed of 2 main components:

Strand 1

  • Train students in today's sustainable development and social responsibility tools to invent
  • Give students the keys to coping with change and integrating SDRS into their future careers
  • Integrate sustainable development and social responsibility into training courses
  • Integrate sustainable development and social responsibility into research and laboratory practices
  • COP2 Student

Strand 2

  • Strengthen the integration of SDRS into the School's support activities
  • Develop territorial roots through active participation in Metropole projects (climate plan, biodiversity, travel plan...) and the development of exchanges and partnerships at all levels (city, metropole, department, region, national, international)

The Centrale Lyon ENISE commitment

"Energy and ecological transition"

Committed to its territories, Centrale Lyon ENISE is a founding member of the University of Lyon and actively participates in the "Energy and ecological transition" strategy.

This strategy is made up of 6 areas of action namely:

  • energy and real estate
  • waste
  • transportation
  • green spaces
  • water
  • food

Plan Climat Énergie Territorial

Centrale Lyon ENISE is also a signatory to Saint-Étienne Métropole's "Plan Climat Energie Territorial".

Projects with other establishments

Centrale Lyon ENISE is also involved in projects with other higher education establishments in Saint-Etienne, such as the "Plan de déplacement inter-campus" and the "Plan de rénovation grandes écoles Stéphanoises"

Geographical location has made Centrale Lyon ENISE one of the pilot establishments on the subject of eco-pasturing, which is still in place today.
